Welcome (back)!

It's lovely to see so many people finding LJ again. I've been using it since March 2001 as an irregular journal and social space. Lately it's been more journal and less social; I'd love to make some new LJ/DW friends.

I'm 38, queer, and genderqueer (they/them). I live in Brooklyn with two spouses, one child (just about to turn a year old), three cats, and several thousand books. I'm a native New Yorker and passionate about my city.

These days I mostly post about the baby, but I'm amping up my activism and might start posting more about that. I also occasionally post about mental health, dis/ability, topics related to gender and queerness and polyamory, and my various hobbies.

My day job is editing book reviews of genre fiction (SF/fantasy/horror, romance, and erotica) and copy editing various things for Publishers Weekly. I've been doing it for nearly ten years and was a reviewer for several years before that. Obviously I like books. :) And I'm happy to make book recommendations in my areas of specialty. I also run an advice blog for writers called Story Hospital. In my free time, such as it is, I read, knit, cook, take long walks in the city, and work intermittently on two novels. I spend a lot of time on Twitter (I'm @rosefox there too, and on Dreamwidth as well) but have been cutting back. LJ's more my speed right now.

My last three public posts were a Yuletide 2016 recs post, a recounting of losing and finding something precious to me, and baby anecdotes. That's pretty representative.

If you'd like to add me, please introduce yourself here or in a comment on one of my posts; we're here to be social, after all. :)
